I did it! My dream came true!
I passed under the checkered flag on the straightaway of Daytona International Speedway at 1:02 pm, Sunday February 4th.
The White Lightning GT3R ran absolutely flawlessly for the entire 24 hours. It had a few bumps and bruises but we brought it home with a running engine and all 6 gears.
We finished the race 10th overall, 7th in GT - quite an accomplishment for all of us. My co drivers, Hugh Plumb and Michael Culver, had never raced a Porsche GT3R before. We spent the 2 days leading up to the race getting them as much time in the car as possible. The weather didn't help our lap times but it did give us quite a bit of practice for what we ended up racing in - the rain. By race day we all had laps below 2 minutes and Hugh did an incredible job qualifying with a 1:56.8. He managed that while fighting a nasty case of the flu.
My thanks go out to my WONDERFUL crew. It is very difficult for people who don't work together all the time to come together and become a team but they did.
I will be getting out more about my adventure here on my website very soon!
