2001 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona
Getting the car ready to go race - preparation and practice.
Rolling the car out to grid before the race. Our next door neighbor in the pits and on the grid, Kyle Petty, took time to sign autographs.
Entrance into pit on pit lane.
Everything went extremely smoothly through the night - especially considering the grueling conditions driving in the rain.
The last hour approaches on Sunday. Everyone huddles around the TV monitor to keep up on who is still running.
I have had zero hours sleep since I got up Saturday morning at 7:00am - 29 hours ago.
I got into the car at the last driver change at 12:25p Sunday to take the checkered flag at 1:02 pm.
Not too shabby looking for 24 hours of battle!! The 39 car had all of its body panels
( where did that headlight cover go?), all 6 gears and the motor was still running
strong!! My thanks and congratulations go out to my fantastic crew, co drivers and Porsche for
such an awesome car for the entire race.
